UFC 60 Thread **SPOILERS**

Very dissapointing performance from Gracie, after being out of the octagon for so long you have to question why he would come back and fight the best mma fighter at 170 in the world and probably the strongest man pound for pound in the ufc and risk his unbeaten record, I suspect money has something to do with it, Gracie was probably offered a huge sum to take the fight but it's a shame, because the man deserved to maintain his record and legendary status but now it is somewhat tarnished.

Good performance by Matt, dominating. I never knew an arm could bend so much without snapping before that.

I was actually quite impressed with UFC 60, far better than expected. Vera is growing on me with each match, give him Buentello (if he's still signed?) or Monson next and see how he does. He could be a serious contendor, something much needed at HW division.

He was far from unbeaten, even considering UFC bouts alone. Looks like Dana White tinkered with the records to build up the hype.

Royce has been beaten quite a few times in the past 5 or 6 years, we all knew Matt would win, I was just wondering how. Tbh I doubt Royce would beat anyone in the welterweight top 10 now or then, far to one dimensional.

I don't know how you guys can say it was a boring event, it was one of the best ufc's in a long time. Did the uk version have 8 of the 9 fights also?

Was intresting...I hope Gracie trains and fights more i'd like to see how he would do in modern ufc.

edit - you have to give Gracie credit for not tapping on that arm bar.. it hurt me from looking at it!

UFC has evolved too fast for someone like Gracie, who has been out of the octagon for so long, to be a serious competitor. I still have no doubt that he is the best submission fighter, but he needed the advantage of being in control during the takedown, which he did not have, which is why he got dominated by Hughes.

If you want to see a real good modern day sub guy take a look at Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira or maybe Dean Lister, either of those guys would beat him in a subs match. There's plenty of others too.

If we are talking a pure submission match you wouldnt be able to predetermine it because they are both black belts in BJJ but ARN is a heavyweight and has 60lbs over Gracie, so chances are they wouldnt get a chance to fight. However Gracie is reknown for beating people much bigger than him. Nogueria is an incredible fighter though and would own Gracie in a MMA tournament tbh.

how gracie did not submit with the arm triangle ??? That was amazing - it was locked in big style but once hughes got on top - only one winner.

Nice flying knee also to win in the other match!!!

Can;t wait for orlovski v silvia III @ UFC 61

Aye, Spencer Fisher with a brutal flying knee, we all lept out of our chairs for that one. That was a great fight, at the start of the second round you could tell they were about to fully throwdown.

Next big show is Pride's welterweight tournament opening round on June 4th, really looking forward to that. Been watching some of the IFL and WEC recently too, some great stuff going on in mma at the moment.

61 should be better and I presume Tito will be in better shape than he was for the Forrest fight, otherwise Ken may take him out.

Arlovski v Sylvia shouldbe another good'un, with no chance of a points decision, as they both like to bang. :)

agreed - disapointed that the ref was so quick to stop it last time but another good fist fight will be worth while
