For some reason, when using the VGA Cable - pretty much the only cable worth using with the monitor because composite is poop on a stick - there is tearing.

There is two types, and one of them I can get rid of:

The first is the tearing between the top of the screen and the bottom. This is easily resolved by either turning the monitor on and off, or by cycling through the input sources.

The second is that there is a small section of the screen at the top which tears horizontally. It's not the screens fault because it happens no matter what 1:1 resolution I use.

Oh and my monitor will no longer go to 1:1 pixel mapping in 1920x1200 on VGA after trying out the component connection. IT ALWAYS FILLS THE SCREEN no matter what 1:1, Aspect, or fill option I select. Maybe my Xbox is now outputting differently because of me messing with the component cable.

I'm really annoyed lol.

Ill have a go now.

I never noticed the thin band of tearing on the screen either til today.

You can see it when you pull the dash menu up and a one inch band will lag behind as it pops out.

You can see it in games too when the image is showing vertical lines.

Well I got the 1:1 of 1920x1200 back.

I still notice that any wide screen resolution has the horizontal banded 1 inch tear at the top of the xbox image :/

If I set 1280x1024 and make it standard (square not wide screen) there is no tearing. It only happens on wide screen resolutions. 1280x720 in aspect ration will have the band of tearing, but it will be half an inch big not as big as 1920x1200.

the componenet on the dell is really lame though isnt it? and id have to run it at 720p too cos it doesnt use 1080p.

oh and the band of horizontal tear is on everything; well i expect it is as it happens on the dashboard too - noticeable when you press the sphere on the controller and the side dash pops up.
