UHD Blu-ray films?

LOTR didn't look so great.

That is a shame. The LOTR trilogy is one of my favouite film series and I was considering getting it on 4k blu-ray as I only have it on DVD at the moment.

The LOTR is a good transfer. The colour grading more than makes up for the slightly heavy DNR scrubbing on some scenes.

Anything by Nolan, blade runner 2049. Believe it or not Carpenters The thing looks outstanding in 4k

Pretty much zero HDR though, sadly.

It's better than the 1080 Bluray for sure... but it doesn't stand out as a great 4k transfer for me. Fell well short of expectation for what was a grand production.

I thought the LOTR transfers looked great. Yes there’s some DNR scrubbing here and there but the added detail level and soundtrack upgrades more than makes up for it.

I’ve seen Alien, Aliens and Star Wars Rogue One recently digitally in 4K/HDR and they looked stunning, so can imagine these would look great on disc as well.

Wow, if you remember watching it on VHS, hell, even DVD, you are in for a surprise.
