UK based F1 teams

I'm trying to think of all the UK based F1 teams who do their development over here but I can only think of Mclaren and Williams. It's not just those two is it?

Force India seems to be based in Silverstone, ex Jordan right?

Only Ferrari aren't. I think.

The sport was born here. It's funny that in probably a years time we won't actually have a GP held here anymore...

Um....I think France probably has that claim....

Though you're right in a way - the first race of the World Championship back in 1950 was the British GP at Silverstone.

Most of the cars are assembled, tested and completed over here but the initial development and consepts for a few teams are done offshore like Toyota which is what J69 is getting at I think.

Torro Rosso is essentially a separate team to RBR too, so I guess Torro Rosso is another foreign based team, even though their chassis is based off a UK team car.

Yep, design, testing and development is what I'm interested in. Just going through a few team websites and it looks like a lot of it is done here.

Even Ferrari get some parts developed by UK companies, IIRC.

Toyota are based in Germany I believe
and BMW in Germany as well (I think)
Ferrari are in Italy of course, as are Torro Rosso

WE are talking about their "official base here".

All teams apart from Toro Rosso, BMW, Toyota and Ferrari are UK Based.

Toro Rosso and Ferrari are Italian, Toyota are German and BMW are Swiss.

My bad, didn't realise that ... always though they were based in German as I know that they build their gearboxes there.

EDIT: Yes they have bases in both Switzerland (the old Sauber HQ) and also use the BMW Munich facilities

There are big differences between where teams build their cars, where they are 'based' and their nationality. But its fairly safe to say a lot of F1 activities for a lot of teams are in the UK.

Was any part of Jordan ever based in Ireland?

Most teams are british in F1, i liked it when Eddie Jordan still had his team at silverstone!

Honda F1 were next door to us in our old warehouse... not any more.

Remember watching an interview with Mike Gascoyne back in the day & he would commute almost every other day to Cologne, Germany on a private jet!

Don't forget lots of the teams have British employees (engineers, etc) even the ones based abroad

some of the ferrari f1 cars have been designed by english people so there not really italian
