Hey my mate has just told me that the Minimum drinking age in the UK is set to rise from 18-21 after april or something? is this right

or is he having me on.

Mind you, the minimum age for buying tobacco is set to rise from 16 to 18 this year (around October).

I think its smoking age 16-18.

Anyway, most <21 year olds get too drunk and cause fights.

It's a stereotypical fact and increasing the limit will fix the problem!

Most shops have a policy to ask anyone who looks under 21 to ask for ID, the mrs works in a shop and gets grief loads of times.

Like the drinking limit actually stops anyone, almost everyone i know who isn't old enough does it anyway, its almost an incentive to drink when your breaking the law.

Wouldn't affect me either way.

It's 5 afaik. Difference being that 18 is for public places (or something along those lines).

It would effect me as im 18 now ... and want to go round town and 90% of the pubs are no ID no matter how old you are you cant come in. So it looks like the limit is stopping people

Unless prescribed by a doctor, then there is no minimum age.
