UK gamers getting internet problems?

A couple of yellow lighting bolts would make them cooler or maybe some sunglasses painted on them.

It's not even published yet. No idea what I'm signing for.

chris’s petition:

Make street cabinets cooler, so they don't over heat and cause internet issues.

A lot of people who are into online games are getting a lot of connectivity issues this summer. I want to help prevent this for the next big heat wave we get. This is because the street cabinets are not designed to be exposed to heat waves.

I spoke to a BT Engineer he told me this is the problem.

Thank you. Some reason I'm just getting a message saying that it needs 5 votes before they will review it. Don't actually say what it is .

hold on you want me to sign a petition with no petition details

for all I know it could be for anything

that would look great with my name at the top of a petition to change the law to enforced ring piece licking or corbyn for pm or some other god awful thing

You've identified a problem, but to give your petition a chance to be taken seriously I think you also need to identify the cause and propose some workable solutions.

I've only ever seen cabling in street cabinets so not sure how heat can effect them, I guess it's possible they may have other equipment in them but you'd need to find out what and how heat affects it.

How is replacing every street cabinet in the UK going to be funded? are you expecting the government to pay for it through our taxes or the telecoms companies through our bills? Either way I think you'll need to come up with a better justification than it's affecting peoples ability to play online games.

How are you proposing to vent a street cabinet without making it susceptible to rain and / or vandalism either of which could lead to much bigger problems?

I am not sure what you are trying to achieve by this.

The equipment is cooled adequately or their would be failures that we would all be aware off and the last thing Openreach/virgin wants is failures of of street equipment.
I don’t think this will garner much support TBH as the cost would be borne by you and me and for the little to no return on investment makes this a non going in my mind.

My internet has been dropping in the hot weather. Two different Openreach engineers couldn't find the fault. Only cuts out when the temp is 25+. Maybe it is the sun on the cabby. Though I would assume it would affect other residents in the same area.

I'm guessing the equipment they're referencing is a fibre-copper media convertor of sorts. This obviously only applies to FTTC cabins, heat won't affect pure copper lines at all.
