UK gamers getting internet problems?

Overheating cabinets (or rather the equipment inside) can be an issue. However, creating a petition to resolve a problem that the providers are already aware of and trying to resolve is a tad redundant IMO. I have heard that painting the cabinets silver would reduce the issue but I doubt that the local authorities would be in favour of that...

put them underground and when the engineer wants access they just open a cover and hoist it up, it's got to be cooler than having it in the street in the sun, would also stop them being smashed up at the weekend by the local wildlife

That's fine for passive things like taps and splitters but most cabs have active devices and power in them. It's a lot more difficult to work in a pit too. Underground chambers tend to get moist, especially in the winter.

This is my first post and well........here just put your name to this unpublished petition.....something something to do with internet scare scare please sign really urgent thanks.

Have you thought about contacting the Eskimos about this? Maybe they could donate ice for us to cool the boxes with. If it gets enough media attention, all the Eskimo pop stars could stage a benefit concert for us.

Good luck with this, man.

Just spoke to my mate who works for openreach and he said this is BS the green boxes don’t over heat. How could they as they’re just cables. Some of the PCP Cabinets (that divy internet out to the boxes) can over heat as they have processing units inside them but they also have good enough active cooling it’s just if fans break ect

Yes thats what I thought they are just cables with interconnects. The actual hardware is back at the exchange. Unless the OP completely got the wrong end of the stick and meant the exchanges are getting too hot.
Putting them underground is no good either by the way prone to flooding etc. If you knew how many bad lines they are due to flooding and rain, there are some BT street furniture underground that is permanently flooded!

Yeah he was saying though the future infrastructure plans will be much more diverse than the current exchange system.

And currently are rolling fttp for all new house builds

This is the problem with making them easily accessible and having them above ground I guess.

Could always plant some trees and bushes around them for shade. Then vinyl wrap them with a mirrored surface :p
