UK internal flight?

Go find your local airfield and hang about in the cafe for an afternoon. Someone will offer to take the lad up for the fuel price.

I paid a local guy with a plane to take the old man up for his birthday and did a few hours over the county and a few low flybys at home which was great.

Great idea tbf but just wouldn't want to rip off/beg.

I know this might be slightly off topic from what you were asking. But have you ever considered joining a model flying club?

I'm not sure where you are in the north west. The Bury Model Flying Club as been going for years: https://www.bmmfc.com/

pop on youtube for a lot of clips of these flights, maybe better in summer though

Bit of a random one, I live in the North West, my 4 year old son is obsessed with aeroplanes and space. Short of going on holiday does anyone know of anywhere that does short flights in the UK?
Woodvale used to do lessons. Or fun flights.
There are also a few little airfields that do light plane and microlight stuff.
Also I'm sure you can get on a fear of flying thing at John Lennon

Flying lesson for an hour or so would be good otherwise you could get a day trip to Belfast by flying from Liverpool or Manchester which would be 2 approx 40 mins long flights for around 120 quid for 2 people return, make sure to pick window seats near the front or back for best views.

Ryanair does cheap flights. Fly to somewhere for £20 each, have a bit of lunch and a look at something and fly back. Cheaper than most days out or trains.

in cambridge there is an old biplane which does trips... you can either have a tour of cambridge or a longer one which flies over london iirc. i have not done it but a friend of mine has and he really enjoyed it.

FWIW i am flying to Palma Majorca next week... the flight is £26 return (baggage is another £65! but you would not need that)....... i cant say that would be much fun however, if you are gonna do that may as well make the most of it and go for a long weekend break.

just watch youtube like everyone else this is the year 2022 when we don't need to experience things first hand anymore.

get your son ready for living in a pod and never leaving the house again

Everyone doesn't live the same way as you, never leaving the house unless it's to go to the petrol station for some fags and a pot noodle.
