UK passport application - quick question.

I was covered under my parents passport when I was younger (take it this is what people are referring to as a 'child's passport'). When I applied for my first adult passport I had to go for an interview...This was about 5-6 years ago.

Children used to be put under a parents passport but that changed ages ago.

Our 2 year old has his own passport independent from us. Not that he can go anywhere without us as he has no money and mooches off us.

No the guidance clearly says first adult passport, anyway I don't care I have a passport so never have to worry, just making the OP aware
You are clearly wrong as this says your first adult passport and interview

https://www.gov.uk/apply-first-adult-passport/your-passport-interview

You are quite clearly wrong, it clearly says on that web page if you have a childs passport you go through the renewal process. Its not hard to read so im not sure why you feel the need to give incorrect advice

If you’ve had a child passport before, follow the process for renewing your passport to get your first adult passport.

As you didn't have your own child passport it is different. Children now get their own independent passport and can't be put on parents passports

If you've never had a child's passport or an adults passport in the past you need to submit a application for your first adult passport.

If you've had a child's passport you submit a renewal application. You'll also need to get the application countersigned. You shouldn't require an interview.

If you were on your parents passport I believe its a new application for your first passport.
