Saw footage of this attack this morning, as it's being shared on Chinese social media.
No idea what was going through that guy's mind, climbing in to a tiger enclosure! If it's a suicide, it's a hell of a way to go.
Didn't look like the tiger was very hungry, just playing with the guy.

Glad to hear the tiger will not be put down. Punishing wild animals in captivity for people's stupidity is not on.

Maybe I'm exaggerating, but it doesn't seem altogether uncommon for someone to either fall into the animal enclosure
or decide to enter of their own volition. Madness - especially where a big cat or bear is concerned! Anything leopard or above, no thanks.

Its absolutely bonkers that in 2026 with all the safety measures that places like this should have, that its STILL possible for someone to climb into a wild animal enclosure.

Rip to the guy. :(

In the same world, it's 2026 and for about the last 200 years there's nothing stopping you hopping in front of a train at a station.

Tiger enclosure is doing its job if the tiger doesn't get out. Grown man climbs in to hug the giant kitty, that's on him.

Apparently he had special needs so it's down on his guardian/carer to look after him.
Was the carer there!? If he didn't know what he was doing and climbed in thinking it would be fun. That's really sad. :(

The last UK zoo news story I remember seeing, was where a small child was thrown in to the alligator enclosure by someone with learning difficulties.

Monkeys are great at climbing.

They might have to kill the tiger now, just because this guy put himself in front of it.

Where did you get that from? I havn't heard any such thing

According to reports of witnesses on news on the radio he was dancing around taking selfies and then climbed over the barrier into the pit below and lay down whereupon the tiger came over, wouldn't be surprised if he was taking a selfie of the tiger it wouldn't be the first time theres a real problem with influencers and others getting into close encounters with dangerous animals looking for the perfect shot theres been issues with sharks and even bison in Yellowstone theres a video of a guy getting flipped eight feet in the air

I read that he was autistic/special needs, whether that is true or not I don't know. I'm sure it will come out at the inquest. Very sad if he was and didn't know what he was doing. :(

I don't see how watching these videos if good for your mental health.

South Yorkshire Police said the man's family were being supported by officers. "Our thoughts are with them at this distressing time," the force said in a statement.

It added: "We are aware of videos circulating online and we would encourage people not to share this footage."
I never watch videos of real people dying. The news story was enough info, didn't need to see it for myself.

I saw a video of the guy laying down next to the tiger, with the tiger playing with him. It didn't seem aggressive, just confused at the situation. I didn't see the part where the tiger killed him and I wouldn't want to watch that anyway.

LBC radio mentioned today that a woman tried to stop him climbing over the fence but was wasn't strong enough to stop him.

I can kind of understand why someone might video it at the time, you can't exactly jump in and save the guy and to start with they may not have realised they were about to record someone's death, but who the **** subsequently thinks "you know what would be a great idea? I'll put this on TikTok, i'm sure his family would love to randomly witness his last living moments by the video of his death becoming a viral video AND i'm bound to get loads of likes"?

I wonder if that was a carer. A friend of mine is a carer, and has accompanied people on trips out. There's no way really she would be strong enough to stop some of them if they decided to do something like that.

that's what internet security should be about prosecuting guy and tik-tok for uploading the material - but, not so dissimilar to recent crocodile incident.

Haven't visited Woburn for many years - can they still trust people to keep their windows up while travelling through monkey section -
or has Attenboroughs athropomorphisation of animals pursuaded people they are benign.
