I would be primarily using this system for Gaming but with other things e.t.c and I do multitask but is the dual core not better than the quad core for gaming ?

Raptors for storage? What a waste.

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB ST3500630AS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-084-SE)
Price: £106.99 (£125.71 Including VAT at 17.5%)

The case isn't very good either, the Akasa Eclipse would be better.

I'm using the Raptor's for games basically because I am setting up a NAS server with 3x750GB Seagates in it.

That Asaka case looks terrible :(

yeah no need for those raptors as storage get a phat seagate or equivalent as suggested, and just have one raptor as a boot-drive.

The CM Stacker 830 is a piece of crap. Avoid it like the plague. If you want excellent cooling get an Akasa Eclipse. If you want slick looks get a Lian-Li V1000+.

If the system is going to be watercooled , then why is cooling so important in the case ?
Not all parts of the system will have waterblocks on them, the MOSFETS for example. Really, the 830 is quite a rip-off. The build quality is shoddy at best and it costs a fortune. The original Stacker or the Stacker 810 are really much better.

So why buy the 830 then? It's single sellling point is the daft amount of fans it fits. Poor build quality and imo looks terrible. For water cooling look at something like this: Lian Li PC 343B.

It's too big though and if I was going for something like that I would go for the MM UFO. I need something which looks good and you can get a window in the side of it. Traditional cases - I can't stand them, they are too boring for me.

What about a Lian-Li PC-V2100BplusII - These are meant to be good arn't they ?
It's a very nice case. My personal preference would the the V1000+ but the v2100 would be a nuch better choice than the scuzzy 830.

I'd just go for 1 x 150gb raptor for windows and games and buy a 500gb sata2 drive for the rest. Not too sure about the motherboard - does it use an nvidia chipset?

150gb won't be enough for Windows + Games I don't think. The NAS server will be big enough for the rest.

The DFI board uses the new Nvidia 680i SLI chipset which will be released on the 8th of November. The motherboard is released in December

Take a look at the Enermax Galaxy 1000W EGA1000EWL ATX2.2 Modular PSU (CA-029-EN). I saw a review comparing the Tagan against the Enermax and the Enermax came out on top.

why worry about air cooling on things like mosfets when 4 loops are planned, surely they could be included in one of these loops.

with 4 loops the need for airflow in the case will be very small.

Hardly beast of a PC. Not enough storage, I have more. Why not get Raptor for boot and several 320GB or 400GB WD/Seagates? The 500GB and 700GB's are expensive but GB, sweetspot is 320GB although 400GB are coming down.

Ditch the 830, go for the 810 or original Stacker.

The Stacker is a bigger and better case than the Akasa Eclipse, which is a medium sized tower and not full tower like the Stacker.

Why buy SLI/Crossfire setup now? Just get one, see how you fare, if you feel framerate is unacceptable get another. Pointless overspending now when G80 is overkill. Will you notice the difference between 100fps and 180fps in very highest detail mode?
