Ultimate UKOC 8800GTS built system - won't OC

I recently (a couple of weeks ago) purchased a built system from OCUK.

"Ultima OC 8800GTS" Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 2.40GHz @ X6800+ 2.93GHz Dual Core SILENT DDR2 System

I thought this was supplied ready overclocked?

Or am I missing something here? My system is only running at stock speeds (2.4Ghz) and was not supplied overclocked.

I need to overclock it myself - if so then what settings will I need to use in BIOS (IP-35) as I just tried upping it to 2.8Ghz and it wouldn't even POST.

I upped the voltage for the RAM from 1.80 to 2.10

I upped the CPU Voltage to 1.45v

Booted fine no problem.

I then changed the FSB to give me 2.8Ghz (left the RAM timing on auto which increased on its own as I adjusted the FSB) and then my machine failed to post.

I had to switch it off and leave it about 10 mins and then it booted OK - but back to 2.4Ghz.

Maybe I'm missing something obvious?

Didn't actually answer my question but nevermind.

I'll send a technote - thanks for the advice guys :)

I would expect the E6600 to hit 2.93GHz without having to touch the CPU voltage.

Did you lower the RAM divider before upping the FSB?

No I didn't - I left it at default/auto

Running on 2.4Ghz it shows DDR2-798 (1:1.50 I guess)

If I up the FSB alone (multiplier x9) to 2.93Ghz it changes to DDR2-966

The CPU and DRAM voltages are back at defaults (1.35v cpu and 1.80v DRAM) I put them straight back after only one boot.

Leave the CPU voltage on 1.35v, but up the memory voltage to 2.1v.

Then set the DRAM Speed to the 1:1.25 setting, and then raise the FSB so it's at 2.93ghz (9x326 or whatever).

That should sort things out.
