hi all, i have had a ultimate viper i7 930 @ 4.01ghz for about 11 months with no problem wot so ever. recently without any hardware change i notice on ''speedfan'' temp 3 is runing high, and my red temp light is on on the x58 mobo! pc keeps shutting down :rolleyes:

help please!!!

Have you tried cleaning the heat-sink? a build up of dust can cause high temps, might even be worthwhile taking it off and putting fresh thermal paste on and re-seating it.

ive had compressed air in the case, no dust! system is fine without the OCuk profile loaded in. soon as i load it up tho, temps go through the roof under load! wot is a safe temp for the i7 930??

67.9C is the max safe temp - http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=41447

I cant really think of anything other than re-seating the cooler then, have you checked your voltages as well? I'm sure some one else will come along and be able to help.

What were the temps reading?

The actual cores can go upto to 80c ~ which have been mentioned by Overclockers.

The max temp is the Tcase temp which I believe looking around the net is the heatspreader temperature.

during a game or anythin tho all temps increase to near 80c
any ideas as the system runs fine without the ocuk profile, i havnt change any of the profile?
