I think Nintendo can keep it..Untill they can bring out a console with HD output..

In all fairness from Nintendo's point of view the total number of households that have HD ready tv's is still very small so for the moment why add to the cost of the console.

What is the retail price of these going to be about £70 to £90 am guessing ??

hopefully not more than £130-£150 though. Hell if it was £90 i'd buy 2 so i could swap over when i am bored of one colour then swap back a few months later.
£90 would be rediculously cheap, they are worth every penny of £150... who cares about HD output? No ones moaned about the defenition of DVD's so why do consoles suddenly NEED HD? i don't get it.

Too right. Nintendo definately have the right idea with this console. It is affordable and previews show it seems to deliver very good games.

They are not aiming for the hardcore graphic-obsessed gamer, but rather the far wider audience of people that enjoy fun, easy to pick up and play games.

one question...what are those big white/grey things on the front of the cube? are they for wireless controllers?
that's a wavebird receiver...such an awesome controller. i really need to get my gamecube back. i want wireless bongos!! :D

the stand for the Wii makes my eyes go funny. all the angles just make me confused - it's fun to look at

The DS comparison really sold it for me.. dang its tiny! I could care less about its looks though.. gimme the games now :D

Actually I think it does. The phrase is " couldn't care less ".

Brilliant. Looks like an awesome piece of kit and if the price is low, should sell well too as parents will be happy to buy it.

Is that downloadable back-catalogue still happening?

The virtual console - yes! NES, SNES, N64, Megadrive, TurboGFX

And Nintendo have also said there will be other downloadable Wii content - such as smaller original Wii games and stuff from indie developers etc...

Watch SkyHD and then watch normal TV and you'll see why people want HD.

yes but normal TV to HD is a much bigger difference.
WIth the Wii you are gonna get 560p (i think its 560? its 5xx anyhow) widescreen. The difference between that and 720p is much less than between sd TV and HD sky. THe Wi is gonna output at roguhly DVD res and thats plenty for me.
You should compare more like for like.

The virual console will have prices ranging from about $3 up to $10. Maybe a bit more for original Wii content.

The Wii is also gonna have something called Connect24 which means you can leave you Wii in standby mode at night and Ninty might push some content for games of yours over night. When you play the next day you might have a new level or new character to play with that wasn't originally included. :D
Its gonna be awesome! I just hope all the 3rd party developers get on board like they are slowly doing with the DS. Next year is gonna be a huge year for the DS with hopefully loads of class 3rd party games. Atleast thats what Iwata has said. Its taken quite a while for the developers to come on board.
