I've done a search with loads of different keywords so please excuse me if i've missed something blindingly obvious.

I've used a samsung digimax i6 and its nice and small and pictures are respectable for a <£200 camera, but it seems very slow to start and actually be usable, and you seem to miss the moment more often than not, 6-9 seconds before its willing to take a photo, and about 5 to recharge the flash (i supose thats normal thoug?). I know very little about photography, and all i'm after is an ultra compact camera but with a half decent startup time. Tried a fair amount of searching but i cant seem to find anything that fits the bill, any help guys?

Cheers

Hey guys, sorry to bring this up again, i've been browsing round steves and dp and i think i've settled on the Finepix Z2 or Z3 since they're almost the same. Apart from the fact they use xD memory cards, which means another memory card for me to add to my list of collectables. Can anyone see any major problems? I'll probably go for the Z3 and it will probably be used indoor in the dark most of the time, and also stolen by friends to take group shots. Seems fine right?

I've had a two fuji cameras and I've liked them. I can't comment directly on either of those, but if my experience is anything to go by, you shouldn't be disappointed.

A few days later than initially planned, the Z3 is horrid, used it and i'm not impressed. Its certainly not as small as I understood, and its heavy (for its size). Whilst scouting around shops though I did spot the Pentax Optio S7, smaller, slightly more expensive than the Z3 but comparable in features and lightening fast startup or so it did in the shop (not sure if this was a hot start though), as instant as it gets. This impressed me, but the guy in the shop was trying the hard sell on me and that never convinces me unfortunately :p I need to come back to you guys and internet reviews (which seem good) just to make sure. So can anyone comment on the Optio S7?

Cheers again guys!

Powershot SD400? Takes 1.2 seconds to turn on, and by all accounts takes nice pictures for an ultra-compact. Seems to go for about £190 but I've not really looked around.

Looking at it now, and I can't see what makes its any better than the Pentax? Even though it's older (i think) and still more expensive, am I missing something?

:D Gotcha, well i think i may have finally settled on the Optio S7 It can be had for £130, which seems amazing for it's spec. I'm sure i've missed something :p

Right quick question, are all RS-MMC cards backwards compatible (with adapter) with SD slots? The Optio S7 which i've settled on uses SD, but i've got a phone that uses RS-MMC, and would rather use this if it's possible, from what i've read it seems everything will be OK, but i'm just making sure before I order :).
