Ultra Short Throw Projectors and Drop down screens

I think you've got most of the bases covered. Running just the Fire TV as a shared source to the projector and TV does simplify things. If you run in to problems with the control side of things then let me know, I have a few toys that do the things that you thought you were getting with Harmony and a lot more besides.

Yes, i've been looking at a few of those solutions but it's quite hard to get a price, and my expectation is that the answer to how much is going to be "lots". It would be nice to consolidate all the remotes, but i'm ok with having 2 remotes for the tv and fire tv. It'd be nice to be able to tell google to turn on the projector/screen though and maybe the Harmony Hub would be sufficient for just those things. The main thing i struggled with was trying to get the Activity for Netflix where you have to start saying

TV On

Select

Then actually sit and watch the cursor move left multiple times, very slowly. Quite a few times it still seemed to find the wrong app as well. I had assumed i'd have been able to select a "Netflix" app in the same way i can using the Samsung Smartview App on my phone.

Would you say that Sapphire screens are reasonable? I noticed AudioVisualOnline also do a brand called Spitfire and when i spoke to them they suggested they tend to cater more towards the higher end (for Projectors anyway) as there wasn't much money in the lower end stuff.

I don't suppose you know of any reasonably priced screens which are grey? Obviously whilst the Spitfire/Sapphire ones are pretty cheap at around £350 for a 106" i'd be happy to spend extra to get a grey screen as our room is quite bright, we do have black out "perfect fit" blinds on some windows and then non-black out blinds on the french doors/windows and black out blinds on the velux windows. But it'd be nice to watch films without shutting out all the light if we're having a lazy Sunday. I believe grey material helps with that?

The pixel-shifted 4k is 4k. I've got the UHD300x and I'm totally glad I got that over a 1080p model....4k content looks amazeballs.

I'm just using a cheapo 10m HDMI cable at the moment with 4k60, it does very occasionally lose signal and needs to resync, but it'll do until I get a permanent fixing in place.

Yes, i'm considering the 300X, it's a decent saving and other than some extra lumens the UHD40 doesn't seem to offer much extra that i can see. That saving can go towards a screen.
