I want to get an ultrawide monitor and have been looking at the Iiyama GB3461WQSU-B1. However, I'm not sure what it'll be like gaming on it with my 1080 ti. I had planned on getting a 3080 but I've resigned myself to waiting till the new year now when, hopefully, more stock will be available. Just considering buying now due to the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals.

So I had a 1440p Ultrawide with a standard 1080 and it was actually OK. Remember it's only a small amount above a 16:9 1440p Monitor (3,686,400 Pixels) compared to a 21:9 (4,953,600, only 1,271,200 pixels extra, around 33% more) and compare that to 4k (8,294,400) it's not as massive a jump as 1440p to 4k is. I only upgraded as games like Division 2 were struggling without majorly having to dial down the settings to hit 60FPS. I went for a 2070 Super and saw a significant increase in performance. What games are you looking at? Cyberpunk for example will always look best with RTX.
Currently playing WoW but I play lots of different games. I will be getting Cyberpunk eventually but not one for getting games on release day now, think that's an age thing for me!

If the new GPU releases weren't so buggered up I'd have a new one but such is life.

The 1080ti is perfectly acceptable with a 3440x1440 monitor. You should be in a good framerate for most games. Only the really difficult ones are you going to wish you had some more power.
So yes, I would recommend going for the monitor now and upgrading to a 3080 a little later.

Iiyama are great value, but unlike sThanks, just ome I can name, I have always been impressed with their customer services. If you do have a problem with the monitor they are usually very understanding and helpful.
Thanks, just not sure whether to get a curved or flat monitor now!
