Just toying with ideas. Any thoughts?

Basically I'm running out of storage, and in upgrading would like to speed up my internal and external HD's. Budget is small so I'm going to try and do it as cheaply as I can. Current set up is as follows...

C: 80GB IDE (Quiet Drive) all apps & Windows
D: 250GB SATA1 all data

1) USB 2.0 = 180GB IDE Shortterm backup
2) USB 2.0 = 180GB IDE Longterm backup
3) Longterm critical data to DVDRW
3) USB 2.0 = 80GB 2.5" mobile storage

Generally I don't do a backup, but a Snyc including deletions to the external drives. One drive I do on a regular basis, after I've done a lot of work, and usually once a week. The other external gets synched less frequently probably once every month or two. I'm thinking though its looking expensive...

C: 2x80GB RAID0 + SATA2 RAID card with external SATA port (not eSATA)
D: 320x2 RAID0 SATA2 drives

As backup use an old PC in tower case with lots of drive bays, with 2x320 SATA drives not in RAID and a SATA card with external SATA port. I might RAID0 some old drives in this unit not sure yet. This will be wired up to my WiFi router. Which means my PC's and Laptop will have access to it.

1) USB 2.0/SATA (external SATA) = mobile storage
2) USB 2.0 = 80GB 2.5" mobile storage.
