Hardly an acceptable reason to sign up to it.Government has no time to discuss such a thing in reality, it'll probably out of office soon and Commie Corbyn will gladly sign it if not just to froth up the nazi right.
How would such a thing even be defined?
Only EU citizens have the right to free movement. Of course, individual nations can have their own external migration policy but beyond that in reality there's nothing really stopping people moving about between other EU nations in the Schengen area once they are in there in terms of the black economy. How does this work with the EU's freedom of movement? If Italy refuses to sign up to it, but other EU nations do, then surely migrants can enter any EU country and then just go to Italy if they choose to?
But with the new Compact I would expect the regular migrants to become citizens of the country they migrate to. Then they have the right of free movement across the EU, including the countries which did not sign up to it.Only EU citizens have the right to free movement. That petition was posted on the r/UnitedKingdom subreddit and got downvoted to oblivion. It's now gone.
"Don't give in to the xenophobic right wing" was one of the comments. Take away our rights just to stick it to the other side. Wonderful stuff.
