Hey, I've been asked to re-build a PC we have spare to be used else where at work. I have managed to do everything I need to set it up on the Local network with any difficulty, I now need to run some updates but no matter what I try I cant get the PC to connect to any web pages.

I am trying update.microsoft.com and it just returns 'Page cannot be displayed'

I know the internet connection is working as my work PC on the same network works fine (As this is what im using currently!)

I have tried ping and tracert to google from both machines, I get a reply on my machine but Request timed out on the other.

I've also tried clearing the ARP and DNS cache on the machine but still no luck.

I have read about re-installing TCP/IP

Im just in the process of trying a USB network adaptor to diagnose the network card, but if you guys have an other suggestions I'd be more than appreciative!

we are using an ISA server to connect through, but as I stated above my machine is working perfectly through it as you can see by this post!

Network card appears to be working fine.

It gets the same DNS address etc etc as my pc does, and I can access machines and sites locally on the network.

I have no proxy settings on my machine at all, its all picked up from the DHCP.

I have just given the PC a static IP and put in the DNS as firstly the ISA and secondly the DHCP and it works, but when i put it back to DHCP it stops again. So the problem must reside on the DHCP settings the PC gets...

Although the settings are the same that I set statically??
