As the title basically.

when forcing in to the different boot orders it just loads up Windows.

What else could I try as I'm kinda stumped as to why this has randomly stopped working as I'm sure it did originally?.

quick boot not turned on, checked bios time and that's fine.

I've even loaded fail safe cmos to get rid of my overclock as this caused an issue last time I tried to install a fresh windows image.

Anybody else have any idea's?. All I want to do is install a fresh Windows image, set it up to how I want and then clone it.

I've tested the Windows cd and clonezilla bootable drive in my work laptop and this is working.

The only difference to my machine since the last time I installed Windows from fresh is memory, would this prevent loading CD's and booting from USB?

have you tried with ps2 keyboard? and or usb kb,plus try other usb slots

used to be same issue on gigabyte x58 where the kb simply wouldn't work when trying to boot from the boot menu

Hi wazza,

tested wireless keyboard in a different USB port but no luck. Unfortunately I don't have a USB or PS2 keyboard to hand but can borrow one from work tomorrow.

Just for more info, when I click USB-HDD it states "boot error" why would this be as it's the only option which fails to carry on booting in to windows.

unplugged all devices to it bar monitor, usb keyboard/mouse, and power supply so it should go straight to USB and just get boot error.

changed RAM to what it originally came with and still the same. Could it be that it doesn't like the memory stick I'm using?. Just a generic 2Gb one.

yh could be,was the same options for my x58 board, but its changed since then

what options does it say?

cd-rom
hdd
usb-hdd

ect ect

yes ive seen that also, and is the usb stick formatted to fat32? not sure if it boots from ntfs but might need to me made bootable

wahey, some mild success!.

Completely forgot about booting to CD/DVD issue so gave it another go with a new Windows DVD and this worked....maybe my other one is duff!.

still unable to boot to usb for clonezilla but will create a boot drive at work tomorrow on completely different stick.

yeah options are similar:

hdd
cd-rom
lan
usb-fdd
usb-cd rom
usb-zip
usb-hdd
pioneer cd rom

all the options given didn't help! haha

I think it has to be made bootable, then it only works on certain sticks idk why,i had a Kingston datatraveller stick which worked fine
