Unable to insure a car which doesn't have an MOT?

Good luck trying to get a decent payout if you write off a car with no MOT. Technically, it only has to be in roadworthy condition, but not having an MOT puts all the cards in their hands when deciding whether to pay out or not.

3rd party will of course be covered as in any other situation.

My dad got a decent payout when his car had no MOT and was written off by a drunk driver. In fact, they offered him a decent payout, then phoned him up with a revised offer when they checked and found he had no MOT.

The revised offer was higher.
