I have created a bootable Acronis DVD (Acronis True Image Home 2009) so I can restore an image of the windows partition. But when I boot up it says 'Unable to load Linux kernel'.

I have tried it on another pc and it works, so there is nothing wrong with the DVD. Is it some BIOS setting or could it be something to do with the hardware?

I would appreciate any pointers :)

Nah, I wouldn't suspect something in the BIOS. Is that all it goves for the error message? If so it's not very helpful.

If you hit esc or tab or ` while booting does it switch to a more verbose mode where it might give some helpful info?
