Hi.

I received and built this machine on Friday

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/8pac...locked-quad-core-gaming-bundle-bu-050-as.html

all went well however I ran into problems when trying to do the overclock.

I tried this process a couple of times and reinstalled the OS a couple of times also.

The last time I ran it the machine would not boot or boot and run for 5-10 mins before encountering a blue screen.

Each blue screen would be different, I have not come across such a variety! One was IRQ not less or equal than. I think another mentioned system time, one mentioned "K" and a few others.

I went the route of downloading the BIOS and then applying the overclocked config. Both of these tasks competed without issue.

To confirm I used this BIOS

and this config

After spending some time trying to get this working I gave up and downloaded the latest ASUS BIOS and ran this.

The machine has been fine since (this was Saturday).

Has anything changed or have I done anything wrong do you think? I want to try and get the overclock working tonight if I have enough free time to do so.

Cheers.

Okay just tried the process again.

I re-downloaded the BIOS and Overclock profile and applied them without issue.

Within a minute or two I hit a blue screen. Again a new error this time "CRITICAL SERVICE FAILED".

I have reverted back to BIOS 1402 and defaults and so far things are normal again.

The only error I can see in the event log is

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\WPDBUSENUM\{ef6f9ff7-bc56-11e5-9bce-b618527aab3b}#0000000000008000.

I took this quick screen grab after the overclock and before the blue screen

Where to go from here?

Thanks.

The bios is designed to work. I suspect that the config is a generic one and may not suit each and every sample of CPU.

Really you need to set up every overclock from basic ie start with default settings and work from there. Apply BCLK in small steps 5-10MHz and amend the voltages if it falls over or fails to load windows. Until it gets too hot or voltages get too high. When your limit has been reached. take it back a notch or two.

Just to follow up I changed a couple of settings as 8 Pack suggested and the machine is running very nicely now.

Cheers all.
