Hi all,

I’m having an issue after changing my CPU and updating my PIN along with entering the BitLocker recovery key. Now, when I try to set up my PIN again, I get the following message:

"Your PIN is no longer available due to a change in the security settings. Click set up your PIN again."

However, when I click to set up my PIN, I receive this error:

"The User Profile Service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded."

Now, I’m stuck. I tried to enter Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), but when I do, my mouse and keyboard stop working, so I’m unable to navigate through any of the recovery options.

What I’ve Tried So Far:

  • Booting into WinRE: I can get to the recovery environment, but my mouse and keyboard stop working once there.
  • Changing USB Ports: Tried plugging my mouse and keyboard into different USB ports (including both USB 2.0 and 3.0), but they still don't work in WinRE.

Has anyone run into a similar issue after changing hardware (like a CPU) and dealing with BitLocker? Any advice on how to get my system back to normal would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Mouse and keyboard not working in RE
That's a known issue
Problem is now you're stuck you can't download
The fix for it
Unless you're able to bring up cmd
Then someone might know how to download and
Run it from cmd prompt

Bitlocker I would always disable before
Changing cpu
So can't help with that part

Not if they got the cpu has changed
Do you want to clear ftpm or whatever the exact
Wording is
And they pressed yes

You could
Use a windows install usb
Press shift +f10 at the first screen it stops at
Then you have an admin cmd window
You could then delete the recovery partition using diskpart
Then create a new empty partition
Then use dism command to copy the recovery partition
From the usb
Then may also need to use reagentc command too

Not exactly a simple solution though

Edit
That would only fix mouse and keyboard not working
In RE
Wouldn't fix bitlocker issues

2nd edit
If you're dealing with more than 1 drive
You could easily #### everything up doing that
If you entered wrong drive or partition number/letter

Might be unrelated but the fastboot on my motherboard disables my mouse and keyboard in any sort of recovery environment. Pain in the backside so I just leave it off nowadays.
