7870 and 7950 both artifacting, one went yesterday the other today... coinkidonks or AMD sabotage !?!?!?!

Spent the night stripping them down whilst watchin footy, re-pasted and padded. Gonna strip the drivers and give em a good testing tomorrow.. Unbelievable I tell ya's !

lol if AMD had planned to obsolete/toast your GPUs they would have done it a long time ago and not at a time where they couldn't get any money from you due to the current shortages :).
But I get the frustration and hope your issues get resolved. Keep us posted :)

There's loads of AMD cards in stock

Time to move to team green?
I think even team blue could manage against a 10 year old card.

Once thing to note with those ones is they don't play well with modern hardware. Anything with a modern UEFI will likely cause problems, I also got all sorts of artefacts and boot problems when I tried my old 7950 in a newer system.

What are you using such old GPU's for?

Vote to change OP's name to Alan McFail

If you artifacts it's a sign that the video memory is on the way out, you could try down clocking the memory speed and see if that helps mitigate the problem.

I would laugh, as this is the ultimate sods law that normally only applies to me, but I won't laugh as I also have an AMD card and I don't fancy paying top whack to replace it, so I'll keep the Karma card tucked away in the top pocket.

Hard luck.

They may be old but a good 7950 can be flashed with a 7970 bios and do a very good job at 1920x1080. I rebuilt an old system around one for my wife due to the shortages.

indeed i was one that did it:D those were the days of free performance upgrades, used to be sweating buckets while it flashed, but i never once bricked a card, erm yet:D

dont know anything about that, all i know if i have had two seasonic psu`s for over 10 years and never had a single PC part fail on me

I'm on my same Corsair HX850 for 10 years. Using it in my new Ryzen 5800x build thing is solid.

I'm not saying Seasonic are not good by the way.
