Unbelievable guitar skills

Satriani is the man, loads say Vai is better than him but Vai pales in comparison to Satch
Malmsteen > both of them

Also, to those of you bashing 5+ sting basses, and 7+ string guitars, why deny yourself extra range?

A piano has a larger range than either of them, yet you don't see people saying that they're too big.

I wasn't going to join this arguement... but... nooo way  :o

Thats just..... well....

Hopefully people are with me on this.

I'm pretty bored of instrumental music. I remmember hearing SWTA by Satriani for the first time about 2 years into learning the guitar and I thought it was excellent. Now it sounds cheesey and dated.

The thing that really got me loathing some shred tracks is that when ever I see anyone play something like that, the majority of the time I think 'Ewww they are just trying to show off', which they are. Which kind of made me realise that deep down I'm proberly doing the same, so although I still like a widdle now and again, its not very important to me anymore.

The above is why I think malmseen is the absolute WORST of the shred heads, Vai seems like he's very full of himself when I listen to Satriani I occationally cringe.

Saying all of this, I think Bad Horsie and Always with me Always with you are both amazing :)

Unfortunately, Paco de Lucia is much better than everyone so far mooted in this thread. Flamenco is where really "unbelievable guitar skills" are to be found. Mediterranean Sundance by Al di Meola and Paco de Lucia is to be found on youtube, as are a few other videos.
