Was thinking of going to see this, however I have just seen (should anyone be going to the cinema to see it) that it is out on Netflix on Friday.

OK.......
It seems that it was only shown in a selection of cinemas. I made that assumption from the What did you watch tonight thread, people may have been streaming it.

Just watched it on Netflix, pretty good!

Unexpected grainy 80s aesthetic and soundtrack for a movie that seems be be set only 7 years ago. Well executed though. Nice to see Adam Sandler in a more serious role.

Fun movie, some good suspense and quite stressful at times too.

Not sure I get the obsession with with rare gems though.

Watched it last night as well. It probably took me 10 minutes to get in to the rhythm of the film as there was so may people talking over each other. I did get more and more in to it as time went on.

There were a few scenes that didn't really seem to go anywhere though? For instance after the club sequence, the camera follows Julia walking from the taxi, back passed the line outside the club and a few insults are exchanged and then that scene just ends.

I was trying to work out what the point of it being set in 2012 was? Any significance then? Could have worked fine in 2020 as far as I'm concerned.

The ass on his bit on the side, Julia, was incredible!

I did enjoy it though as was having dreams about it so it must have left an impression on me.

Nice to see Adam Sandler back in another film, I enjoyed it.

A bit frustrating to watch with everyone always talking over each other and I wasn’t too happy with the ending, think they could have done it better.

Tried watching this last night but couldn’t finish it. I couldn’t understand what was happening and the constant shouting and talking over each other just did my head in.

I’d give it 5/10 at most.

Watched it tonight. Wow. As a gambler I have never felt so uncomfortable during a film before. It hit a nerve. I felt like I was gona lose millions the whole film.
Messed up but so good.

Is it stylistically similar to Good Time? Because I thought that was rather boring and cheap looking :o

Agreed, the reason it's so manic and everyone is talking over each other is because that's how it was in New York, when you had scam artists mixing it with gangsters.

I found this film gripping, I've never seen Sandler play a serious role, I was so gutted at the end when he got shot dead!
Interesting, struggling through life trying to make it big with lots of set backs whilst also having a bit on the side, all that struggle, finally made it to be shot point blank head first, absolutely devoed for him.

Oh jeez thanks for the spoiler

Yes I know I'm in a thread about a movie that has just come out but there's no law against being polite  May as well not bother now, I was 50:50 on watching it anyway... RTM'd.

Loved it, I think its adam sadler was born for this part which is why he looked the charactor and everything just clicked well its like rdj playing iron man some things are just meant to be.

While it can be a be slow and cringing at times stick through it since its nuts.

Apparently there is a law against politeness if your post is anything to go by , could you not post "Hello chap, do you mind popping that into a spoiler?"

I thought it was pretty good. Not as great as the reviews suggest, but worth watching.

You certainly have conflicting emotions over the main character. He's mostly dislikeable, but you do find yourself rooting for him in the end.

Watched it last night and really enjoyed it. Missus did too and she really doesn't like films with too much profanity in them.
Sandler should take on more serious roles if this is anything to go by.

8/10

It was pretty enjoyable. Not mind blowingly amazing, but I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10.

The soundtrack was a bit all over the place. That one track that was straight out of Akira of all places, then the weird dance music over the credits.
