I have an empty folder that just won't delete, keeps saying it is being used by another process when there are no applications running and only 18 processes running all of which are critical. How can such a basic programming error have happened and still be causing problems after 2 service packs and so many patches?

Had the same thing yesterday with my Windows Server 2003 box. Managed to finally get rid of the folder by booting into safe mode and then deleting the folder, so maybe give that a go.

Either that or try using a Win98 boot disk with NTFSDOS to get rid of it instead.

I've got a similar problem where it just won't delete, with the delete box just sitting there. Using Vista 32bit.

Try safe mode or if you have Nero installed, go into the file explorer within Nero and see if you delete if from there.

As above, if that doesn't work try a programme called "Unlocker".
Unlocker is very good for this kind of thing. Most of the time it'll get rid of the folder for you there and then.

Sometimes however it'll delete it next time you reboot PC.
