Under Tray - Needed.

Our W Reg 1.8 zetec has been into Ford about 9 times in the last 4 years for servicing and other work, not once have they said where is your undertray.

If it had needed it or was important I know for a fact they would have mentioned it.

Check with Ford if you’re at all concerned, it’s only a phone call.
Thats basically what my car is engine wise.

I'll give them a buzz tomorrow, see what they say. :).

Rang them.
Aparentely theres two undertrays.
One that funnels the air into the radiators, and one that goes under the engine to help deaden the sound.
As long as the ones that do the funneling are there, theres no problem.
BUT, as my car doesnt have the black trim around the front bumper, its gonna get more air than usual anyway.
I asked the guy who fixed my car and aparentely theres three under trays on my car, 2 either side of the bumper to funnel air. And they're there. The one for the engine isnt.

So what im gonna do is wait till the next half term, and then have him fix it completely. :).

I have just had to fix mine (with some cable ties) as the back had come loose and had started to tap on a bolt at motorway speeds, which is very annoying. I fixed it rather than taking it off as I thought the benefits were 3 fold. Slightly improved aerodynamics, slight improvement in protection from salt spray, stray stones etc, also slightly lower noise due less air turbulence.
All these are only slight gains though, so I wouldn't worry if you don't have one.
