underated games.

Evil Genius, my favorite game of all time, can be had for a few quid now and is still pretty damn fun to play!

Also Halo for PC was berated and trashed. I didn't understand why apart from running a bit poorly the SP and MP game was excellent.

-Appalling performance for how ordinary it looks
-Dull weaponry for the most part (especially with the carry limit of 2 and no cumulative plasma weapon pickups... I hated after every fight having to run around randomly switching plasma rifles to find the one with the most ammo etc)
-Combat generally not that great
-Annoying repetitive section in the library or whatever it was called
-Boring level design (lots of endless, repetitive looking corridors that I think were just a way of breaking up the levels with loading/checkpoints linking larger rooms)

It had a couple of redeeming features - I really liked the helmet thingy that gives you a playback of the flood attacking for example, and the warthog spiced things up on occasion - but overall for a game that came out in late 2003 it was IMO decidedly mediocre compared to other FPS from that era such as Call of Duty.

Because it was a great game for the consoles, but for PC gamers it was just another average FPS shooter and we had far better for years

going to agree with this! This game should soooo have a remake! Its fun playing the original but I reckon would be amazing with todays graphic engines and physics!

The Saboteur
Spec Ops: The Line
Singularity
Kingdoms of Amalur
Divinity 2
Alice: Madness Returns
Lost Odyssey

Yes! This game deserved far more attention, it was (and still is) stunning and original. It's just a shame about all the graphical glitches that arise with AMD GPUs.

I played Spec Ops the Line based on recommendations in this thread. Finished it, fantastic story telling to convey the increasing madness.
Now considering Alpha Protocol as it's on special offer this week.

The first Witcher game, the majority of the series sales have come from the second and not as many people have played the first as they should have. Chapter 2 kinda sucks except the swamp section, but other than that the game is great.

Battlezone II - Not only able to build bases like C&C but able to take control of vehicles and guns to fight as well.

Mirrors edge - Great style, new concept, fun to play apart from when you have to disarm people etc which was a PITA.

Kyle and Lynch II - Loved the whole style of the game. The fly on the wall cinematics are just great.

Mechwarrior Mercs - Seriously, who doesn't like stomping around in massive weapon laden piloted robots. The new on-line version is just too limited and far too costly for my liking. I would love to see a single player version again.

Just Cause 2 - Had ignored this for ages and took a punt during a steam sale. It is now one of our most played games with two of my kids playing it a lot as well.

Hellgate London - It was fairly simple, grind and upgrade. Multiplayer was reasonibly good and was the only game I really started to get in to multiplayer with. The back story was fairly good as well and the books were ok for a train journey home. Ended up getting sold to a Korean company who ended up having it exclusively for their market.

Alpha protocol and Kotor 2 ( both by Obsidion productions ?)
Good games marred by lack of attention. You could sense the AAA title trying to get out.

Iirc Kotor2 is a good game, but at release it was compared unfavourably with kotor1.

Demigod (moba)
Sublime game, let down by a really bad initial long term bout of network issues and unfinished mechanics and eventual developer malaise.
The massive piracy debacle didn't help the game either.

Zeno clash
Eccentric fps, unfortunately the game looked way 'out there'
Shame, as it was a stonking good game.

Perimeter
Think tower defence base building, but with depth.

Giants
Just was ignored by the mainstream. Which is horrific , considering it was near perfect in gameplay terms, and the humour made you play while smiling like a Cheshire Cat.

Beyond good and evil
Nuff said.
Cult classic that everyone ignored first time round, but later picked up in bargains and discovered a sublime story. Fun and enjoyable gameplay..and a talking pig.

Vampire the Masquerade
Just awesome that the community fixed the bugs and finished the job for the Developers. Great game.
