I own a aTi X850XT (which I overclock to PE easily) and was wondering whether it is perfectly safe underclocking and keeping the same voltage? All I have simply done is created a profile in Ati Tools called "Underclocked" (500mhz core, 520mhz memory) and activate it whenever doing non-graphics hungry tasks (DVDs for eg). This is safe right? And can I further lowe the clocks for when Im just watching DVDs?

I found when I lowered the clock on my Voodoo1 from 50mhz to 25mhz it caused artifacting. Never tried underclocking a graphics card since.

jsut adjust the fan speeds a bit. its not gonna get too hot watching dvds

set a profile called dvds and set fan speeds to very low.
