Underclocking?

I still use a 939 machine with X2 3800+ @ 2.8ghz. Could I take the fan off completely and run it at 1.8ghz? Same with my 8800GT, lower the speed so the fan is on slowest or off for a silent machine.

This will probably be pointless anyway as I have 5 hard drives

An Accelero S1 rev2 will cool an underclocked 8800gt without issue with a little case airflow.

And bungee the HHD - will make a world of differance to there noise/temp
