Considering 7970's are built to operate in the mid 80's as confirmed by AMD themselves id imagine keeping a 7870 below 80c will be more than enough.
Activated fine. You should do some 3dmark11 and Heaven runs once you've found your max overclock. I wanna see those scores!

Whats the best program to stress test the gpu mate?
I used to use furmark
Furmark is a power virus and even with +20% on the power limiter you will still see your card throttling.
I use Unigine Heaven and Sleeping Dogs as my current GPU benchmarks. Both stress your GPU core superbly without providing unrealistic load levels.
No metro 2033 ?
Metro is good as well, if you have it. That is pretty brutal on gpu heat as well.

Thanks mate
Im up to 1280 now and still going strong
Starting to get close to the 70degree mark now lol

Ok so the stutter problem is still there on certain games
Alan wake for example, when you move foward it is like its goin slow then speeds up to catch up kind of thing.
Same for skyrim![]()
Perhaps you need to back off on the overclocks a bit. If you're pushing the core/memory further than it can handle at the specified voltage then you will see decreased performance/stutter.

I'm out of suggestions lol.
Restart your pc, does that fix it?

1250 is a good overclock. You should be around stock 7950 performance. Enjoy!

Just use leave it on that BIOS switch if it's fixed![]()
