Understanding web traffic

I use stat counter on my website to monitor site traffic. However, one thing I don't understand from the data is the location of each visitor/IP address.

The website is to promote my covers/wedding band and there have been several hundred hits since we started advertising on FB and in the local press since start of August. Although I live in N. Ireland & I would expect so too do many of the site visitors, stat counter gives my address as Kinross, Scotland & the majority of visitors. I don't really think we have a fan base there!

I am with BT broadband.Does BT route traffic through an exchange in Kinross or what it is?

ISP's own blocks of IP addresses, and when you do a query on the IP address you typically get the address of the owner not the computer.

A quick reverse on my IP suggests i'm in Bristol for instance.

As you are in Europe, your IP will most likely be queried against RIPE. http://www.ripe.net/

So is it possible to get more specific data on traffic such as county or town/city?

Put the IP address into the RIPE search @ http://apps.db.ripe.net/dbweb/search/query.html

That's the best you can get.
