Unexplained performance drop

I just ran 3D Mark Vantage and got a score of 28000 which is way below the 31000 I should get, I also ran 3D Mark 11 to make sure which only scored 8200 rather then the 9000 I usually score.

So I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and scores are back up to where they should be, any idea's why this happens?
 
Do you have the option for + "x" % power draw used? Ive noticed that if its at 0 my gpu scores are lower than when I have it enabled/used, seems like the card throttles back as it isnt drawing enough power, could give this a go :) (if not this then you'l have to wait for a more experienced o'cer i belief :( lol )

Yeah I noticed that myself however this time it has nothing to do with the power control settings as they are already at +20

Granted if I set them to 0 then I get a similar problem but this time it cannot be put down to power control.
 
One other thing I can think off - are you using extra voltage to the gpu? - reason I ask is because last night I was trying to oc my 7950 and bumped the voltage up to 1250 to see where I could get to on the core clock but the next bench mark i ran on fire strike went from 7000 to 5000, as it was about 2am i said **** this im going to bed, re set the gpu to stock volts and score went up, seems from my reading thats theirs also built in safe guards when running through some benchmarks that the card also throttles itself to save from frying itself, mabey this?

I have found out it is to do with the power control settings as if I go back into CCC and reset to defaults then reapply the +20 power control setting I get all of the speed back without having to uninstall the driver.

Might try overclocking with triXX to see if its any better.

Yes its a result!

If I install and use triXX to do the overclocking not only does it keep the speed after a reboot but the version I just download allows adjusting the voltage as well.
