Unformatting SSD

Hello Guys,
Sorry wasn't sure of which forum, so thought i`d post here but mods do feel free to move
Basically, i need a free unformat tool, is there any people have used. I have never had the need to use it so unsure of known ones.

I've never heard of the term "unformat" used with storage before.

What is it you're trying to do? Wipe all the data from the drive?

No, i formatted the drive and like an idiot didnt properly backup a save game so wanting to restore it.

Back in DOS there was a command that allowed you to unformat a formatted hard disk, but it didn't always work. It would essentially attempt to recover the formatted disk.

You could try Recuva:

Try recurva
Point it at the drive and have it seek 'all files'
see if the save game is among the restorable.

Thank you all, Just tried recuva, unfortunately a month worth of grinding in satisfactory is lost Oh well, i guess its only a game.

Recuva is a waste of time in my experience, other than for deleted files, it doesn't seem to cope with any filesystem damage.

I believe that recovery from SSD drives is far harder than normal hard drive as their controllers work in the background to wipe areas marked as unused to a usable state again. I would imagine that in some drives this occurs within minutes, so you have a very slim chance on a drive that has been used for a month. Even with a hard drive you would be hard pushed to recover files after being used for a month, but I have seen it done.

Ill try this now, thank you. Yep tried that recuva and it didnt really seem to do anything.

If not it oh well lesson learned.

I did think this, It is recovering something however not sure what.

GetDataBack successfuly restored an entire drive for me, however, that was a mechanical drive.

Worth a go.

What do you mean "unformat"?
Why don't you just "wipe" the SSD using KillDisk, WipeDisk or something similar?

Perhaps a better word (or words) might have been "recover data lost as a result of formatting"?

Only on some games according to Seabiscuit.
