Unfortunately, maps has stopped

I updated Google Maps on my HTC One earlier this week.

Ever since then, I get 'Unfortunately, Maps has stopped' error messages at random when I'm doing non-maps stuff. ie reading a text, browsing the web, etc.

Maps itself seems to work - presumably it also works in the background and continually crashes whilst it does this.

How can I roll back to the previous version or fix this? Anyone else had this?

In app manager force stop, clear data and cache. If that doesn't work go back and uninstall updates.

Cheers, tried the clear data/cache thing to no avail. Removed all updates and back to the stock client now. Interesting to see because they used to show you location history from within the app, now you must use a website. Progress eh :D

Bizarrely it's still doing it with the updates removed and the original version of maps installed with data/cache cleared

Edit: Thats because it's updated itself back to the latest version in the background without prompting me

I've never had this on mine.

Have you got any other apps which might be interfering with GMaps causing it to fail? Since yours is the only phone doing it - i would suggest it is something exclusive to your phone which is causing it to fail.

Maybe Google it to see if anyone else has had this issue and if there was a conflicting app?

This problem continues to drive me up the wall. I don't know what to do about it :(

Reporting things on the Play Store can work surprisingly well :), include model of phone and problem(s)

I got the same thing yesterday, GS2. It runs, but then get the same message.
