Hi,

Im going to University this September and Im considering using my £2750 overdraft on my Halifax Student Account to get me a brand spanking new Laptop or PC.

Question is though, which?. Will I actually be moving around much in Uni needing a Laptop to do work on or will a stationary PC in my room be suitable.

Thing is, I just happen to like online games like CSS, WoW, BF2 etc and a few single player games like M2TW and I wouldn't mind being able to run Crysis when it comes out etc.

So if you could answer the first question, could you spec me a Gaming Laptop/PC.

Thankyou.

why not spend most of your money on a pc , then save a small amount and buy a cheap laptop that you can take to attend lectures etc

Please just confirm, for the sake of my sanity, that you aren't intending to spend all the cash on a PC or laptop? You will almost certainly need some of it to live off.

I'd probably just buy a decent PC if you intend to game on it, the chances are that most of the time you won't be moving the laptop around that much. I've got/had both and apart from occasional trips home I very rarely needed the laptop.

If you want a specification then post a budget and whether you need all peripherals or just the main box, with or without software etc. :)

Thanks for the advice so far and sorry I forgot about the budget.

I was looking at around £1000-£1200 when I last spec'd myself a PC. That was with all the peripherals and software included to last me a good few years.

I'd like to keep it around that mark still, so I can use the rest of the overdraft to live off.

This is pretty much bang on in the middle of your budget and should offer a decent mix of price and performance with a few areas that could potentially be upgraded if necessary. :)

I would persoanlly get a new dell vostro laptop with vista premium or a imac if your not gaming. The dells can handle gaming pretty well from what has been said on these forums.
