Hi there,

Basically here is my situation, in Jan or when I had to apply for my uni's I used stupid, unrealistic choices and therefore I have no good offers. For a while I did nothing but now, mainly due to guilt Im starting to do something about it.

I dont know what I want my future proffession to be, Im currently studying (or studied) Art (got a B in AS), Media (got a C in AS) and Law (Got a D in AS).

I live in East London, and dont want to move that far away, but at the moment I feel as though I do want to move out. Ive narrowed it down to the following choices-

Brunel- Law

Good- Hear the law course is good, had a breif look around and it looked very nice and clean.

Bad- Hear the uni is more of a business than a uni, lots of building work, in a secluded and boring area.

City- Law or Business

Good- 20min train ride, in central London

Bad- 20min train ride in rush hour

Im hoping to get a flat with friends that i meet there (touch wood), is that a realistic idea?

UCL- Business

Dont know much about this uni.

Queen Mary- Business

Good- Hear its a good uni

Bad- Dont know yet, but its not that far.

What Im currently doing is applying for open days and asking around, the open days are all around the 20th-30th June mark, should I apply to unis through extra before then? Im also emailing unis for undergrad prospecteses.

I know I left everything very late and Im very silly for doing so, but I am doing everything I can at the moment?

Thanks.

You are never in a million years going to get onto a law degree at a Uni in the top half of the league tables with a D in Law coupled with Art and Media Studies.

Infact to be honest I'm not sure what you'll get on with those subject choices :(

:(

Well I dont know what other subjects to pick, I find Law somewhat interesting, and I know it will keep me busy.

Business studies I chose because it covers so much, hence keeping my options open.

If you knew they were stupid and unrealistic choices, why bother? Seems like you've dug your own grave as far as Uni's go :(

No offence or anything, but... if you're getting D's at Law at a-level, you won't stand a chance at uni level, where presumeably things are much harder.

Good Russell group unis like UCL are extremely competetive and will be iffy with any subject with the word "studies" in (apart from business, as it's relevant to the degree).

Best bet is to think long and hard on what you are interested in, what you fell you are capable of doing and then applying to places where you have a realistic chance of getting in on your current grades.

Also - I wouldn't even bother applying to UCL (I'm not sure about the others) through UCAS extra, they're already heavily oversubscribed as it is, and the chance that they'll have a spare place is pretty minimal.

Ripper- I didnt have a clue about Unis at the time, just applied as teachers where bothering me to do so :( .

Mleh- No offence taken, I didnt really revise properly for the exams, and In one exam I even just gave up, just because I was fed up.

I took the Stamford Test, and it returned with courses such as Politics, International Relations, Law and Business.

Thanks.

If you just give up maybe uni isnt the right place for you. Exams are much much harder and you arent spoon fed at good unis and are expected to do all the background work for yourself.

I revised for one week through my own stupidity and on the day of the exam I was feeling hot, ill and the very very very last thing I wanted to do was sit an exam.

And if that happened at uni and you walked out, you would be taking a year out of uni and having to resit the entire year after the year out. Maybe you should do what I did and go to college in a gap year and do an a level in maths and physics as unis much prefer these subjects.

Aww you were hot? and a ickle bit ill?

At uni it will be a hundred times harder. You've got a 4000 word essay to hand in in less than 12 hours and you haven't even started your research for it. You're hundreds of miles from home and you are totally alone. You're starving and all you have left is 1 tin of beans and some pasta. Then to top it off you've got Charlie shooting at you and you just fell and put your hand in a pile of goo that used to be your best friends FACE, you'll be crying out for your mummy and you'll wish you were back at sixth form.*

Think you summed it up pretty well tbh :p

lol a lot of ass ripping in here, give the guy a chance.

Dont listen to these guys, lol all in a mood tonight. Sit down and have a chat with as many people as you can and try to make a descision on what to do, dont rush in whole heartly.

- and if anyone mentions any spellings im going to roffle!

Surely the obvious idea is to look for uni's that meet the grades you have/will have? And either apply for those, or have the details ready for the clearing day. No point weighing up the pros and cons of QM and UCL if you don't have 2 A's (or whatever they want).

IMO.

Every top 20 law school asks for AAA one of two decent Unis ask for AAB and ABB but its very unlikely you will be able to do Law at degree level at a top Uni.
