Uni worries

Nothing like the feeling of necking a few relentless, 3 or 4 pro plus, and starting a 5,000 word essay at 2am or 3am to hand in for 9am.

At 2am your feeling ok, thinking your going to make it...

3am tiredness is setting in but your hands go into autopilot and you dribble on about some meaningless subject.

4am you start to panic, you realise you haven't actually got a lot of time left before you have to leave the house and start calculating how many words you need to do, then working out how many words per minute you need to type.

5am You're past caring, you're almost there but couldn't care less if it was a 40% or a 75% pass.

6am You crap your pants when you realise how much referencing you need to do / haven't done!

7am You get ready for uni!

Maybe go straight into work instead? Sounds like you are going to uni for the sake of it.

In a way, I am.

I hear so many good things about University. I do want to carry on studying.

This stuff always happens to me, im such a flop.

Thanks for the replies, makes me realise a lot.

UCL is best out of those uni's

im sure you could do a foundation degree first (1 year) and then move onto a degree afterwards.

Aww you were hot? and a ickle bit ill?

At uni it will be a hundred times harder. You've got a 4000 word essay to hand in in less than 12 hours and you haven't even started your research for it. You're hundreds of miles from home and you are totally alone. You're starving and all you have left is 1 tin of beans and some pasta. Then to top it off you've got Charlie shooting at you and you just fell and put your hand in a pile of goo that used to be your best friends FACE, you'll be crying out for your mummy and you'll wish you were back at sixth form.*

*real experiences of uni may differ

pfft thats pathetic!

I managed to roll out a 10,000 word report in under that amount of time, and that was after 100hours of the actual project :p wonder what it'll be like in the 4th year if one 2nd year module demands that lol

anyone know what manchester met is like for law?
Crap reputation, used to be a poly, will get in no matter what your results.

Uni is half decent, lot of money going into it so new buildings and equipment.

Some very talented lecturers and staff who will help you no end, some that just cba.

The unis combined are very big and i had a first year i didnt enjoy.

Moved home for 2nd and 3rd year, enjoyed my course (environmental mangement).

I had some decent field trips and produced a good project.

From the sounds of the first post it seems you want to stay living at home, i think that the main Uni experience is living away from home. So if i was you i would look into Unis outside of London

law with art and media

Id says go to uni anyway, even if its a crap one. Try and get into some good halls and have a laugh for 3/4 years before wasting your life away doing a 9-5 job. (also try and get degree aswell though)

Theres no point getting a degree if its not worth the paper its written on its just a waste of money. You could try getting into a half decent uni through clearing and if that doesnt work then take on a couple of a levels in the year you have to take out and then reapply when you have more a levels.

Uni isnt all about the degree. Ive learnt so much more and developed more as a person from living away from home for 4 years than any course could teach. Plus the fact most employees look for experience in relevent areas that can be gained through placements instead of a degree (of course the degree helps but experience is better)

Companies don't care about that self exploration shizzle.

lets not start the "im far superior cos i go to a top 10 uni" debate that always happens in threads like this :p

I'd agree totally. I have a friend who isn't at what's ranked as a top uni who swears by some of his lecturers and is on his placement year working for Microsoft in Ireland.

Can't be all bad.

I had the option to go to a fairly decent uni and i've changed it for a one where the course suits me more, even though it may not be respected. I'm not going to force myself through three years of something I don't like.

sorry, didnt mean you tell ure future employer about how you have developed. (thats for yourself) the experience on work placements or jobs you have whilst at uni show you can work and still do a course and get a degree (hopefully!)
