Unidentified Network -Anyone able to help?

Hi I have got myself a new motherboard.

Asus Z170 Maximus Hero VIII

But for some reason I cant get it to connect to my network with the LAN.
Things I have tried,

Intel I219-V

3 of the latest versions of the drivers.
2 different network cables (Cat 5e) (Would Cat 6 make a difference?)

3 different OS
Windows 7 Home Premium
Windows 7 Pro
Windows 10 Pro

I have tested both cables on another Windows 10 Laptop + a Ubuntu one no issue.

I have reset my router back to factory default.

I am at a loss what to do. I am prepared to install Teamviewer if someone would liek to try fixing it.

I can tether my mobile to the PC and get online.

Last thing to try would be..

Burn LinuxMint or Ubuntu onto a CD/USB drive, boot from that, check if you have web connectivity.

If not, faulty motherboard, could try disabling and re-enabling the network card in the BIOS.

You've tried a linux disc already?

Check none of the pins are bent in the LAN port.

It's rare, but it could have just been dead on arrival.

-edit, bad timing for both of us posting

-edit2, what does it say in Device Manager?
-edit3, have you tried another port on your router?
-edit4, are you connecting it directly to the router? (ie, not through a powerline adapter)

The linux thing is my last attempt.

It is there in device manager (lurking)
Yeah all four and modem mode.
No to the power line.

The adapter is enabled as you've been able to install the device drivers.

So what happens when you plug in a LAN cable? Do you get an IP address?

Open a command prompt, type "ipconfig / all" and post the output.

If it works in Linux, then check all your network IP screens are set to automatic and reset the firewall settings to default.

Don't have a 3rd party firewall do you?

Local Conn 3 is my tethered phone.

It tried to find the network then goes to unidentified network.

So it's not getting an IP, that's not a good sign tbh. Especially if it's working when you tether.

How far off testing with Ubuntu are you?

The date on your pc is wrong, could be the issue.

Nope ran form a live disk still the same no connection.

Have you restarted the router, the dhcp server isn't issuing an IP.

Oh, output says lease issued 11 Jan? :confused:

If all else fails just give it a static address and see if you can get online.

I have reset the router,

My PS4, Tablet and Ubuntu laptop are all connected ok

Faulty mb.

Check visually to see if there's any damage to the pins. I've seen a motherboard with a bent pin before. Failing that, send it back.
