I'm looking to get a couple of wifi access points for home use and hear a lot of positive comments about the UniFi access points.

I borrowed one (albeit the older model) and coverage was good and was easy to set up but being old, support and performance wasn't great.

Are the newer UniFi AP AC Lites any good?

Would they be better than using something such as Google Wifi or Nest Wifi devices? My missus doesn't like the idea of having smart speakers around the home especially as she works from home for her job in a local government role that again, doesn't like smart speakers

Thanks in advance

I would try and stretch to the Unifi 6 Pro (U6-Pro) - perhaps try and grab a deak in the Black Friday sales.
These provide great speed and bandwidth across all channels.

There's also the U6+ if you want to save a bit of money, it's the successor to the U6 Lite. I think it's even around the same price as the AC Lite if you look around.

But yes, no PoE adapter, you'll need to get that separately. Could even go for a PoE switch if you plan to install another one in the home for better coverage.

Usually depends on location, antenna design, etc. But compared to mesh where it relies on wireless backhaul, these Unifi APs uses ethernet which provides a more stable experience.

I thought the G in HPE part numbers signified that the device had GigE ports.

It's been some years since I used an HPE switch, I got fed up with PSU's going pop so ripped them all out.

Huge thread here for UniFi:
