Today I received the plantronics gamecom commander headset from OcUK.

I have to say I'm not overly impressed. They sound ok and the mic is decent, but they're cripplingly uncomfortable. They're very tight, and I know this will improve over time with use, but the strap adjustment is absolutely terrible and next to useless as it only remains in position for about 8 seconds.
With them dropping so much in price I got tempted too easily and I'm most likely going to return them to OcUk shortly.
My previous two headsets were roccat Kaves: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-000-RC&groupid=702&catid=1058&subcat=1719
Both have broken in the same way (cable fray as it reaches the headset) and the Mic's on both became lose and poor quality after 6 months of use. The upside was the relatively exceptional positional audio which I enjoy a lot in gaming.
So now again I'm looking for replacements. £180 is really my top end budget with north of £200 being out of reach. I would prefer a built in mic as im on TS 90% of the time im on the computer. So a decent mic would be nice.
I'd be open to going headphone+ mic but would prefer not to.
What can you guys suggest?
My sound card is a creative X-Fi fatality + a bunch of other silly names. (got it years ago when I was an even bigger idiot that now. I'd be willing to go USB though If needed.
The steelseries siberia elites seem to get good reviews for "gaming" headsets, though the mic doesn't appear to win any awards.
