Ok a mate of mine has dial-up aol :o :o and is changing to Telewest 2mb broadband next week. He's not very computer minded so has asked me to go round and install the new modem and set it all up. However is there an easy way of uninstalling all the awful aol software?? Is it just a case of going through the add and remove software tab in the control panel or is a bit more complicated than that??

Many thanks

no i think its just a matter of goin to the remove hardware bit.

After removing it just go to (C:) harddrive and go to program files and remove any AOL stuff if there is any.

Ok thanks. Just I've read some nightmare stories about uninstalling Aol, as it changes loads of registry entries and installs loads of other crap, and wasn't sure on the best way to do it (other than burn the old drive and all that aol **** in a fire and buy a new one :p )
I'm sure if I have any probs on Wednesday when i'm doing it someone on here will offer some help :)

Im on aol... lol..

well yeah, mine uninstalled fine, just go into add and remove programs, shoudl uninstall fine there, then the program files and maybe search for any files left by the prog, also double check to see if all the startup entries have gone, cos I know if you don't delete them you still have a bowl full of entries left, theres like 6 I know off the top of my head that AOL use :p :\

Unlucky ;)

Its not the ones that I know are there that worry me, if i can see them I can get rid of them, it's just all the hidden crap that is the problem :p
