Uninstalling Vista and Installing XP

Not that I could care either way, but if that is the case, then create another windows disc using nLite, and make sure you make it bootable this time.

Have you gone into the Bios and set the boot sequence to make the CD the first boot device? You need to do this. If you have dome it right it will work. If the XP CD is genuine etc it will work.

in vista

put your xp disc in, copy all the cd contents to C:\XPCD

now download and run nlite, just select 'create bootable iso', save it to c:\xp.iso (or similar)

now use imgburn in Write Mode, select the iso for burning, and your new cd will be bootable (or use nlite to direct burn the iso)

you not much into reading, he has allready said that he has set the boot order correctly, and that his cd is not an origonal.

You not much into manners mate! I did read the posts above but was checking if he had done it correctly as it should work with a non original CD too.

not if its not a 1:1 cd copy, won't be bootable

You have 2 options

1. boot from the OS cd/dvd

to do this you can set witch drive you want to boot to in your mainboard bios.
or press F8 at the post screen this will then show you a list of devices you can boot from..

( tip1: if you mannage to boot to the cd/dvd it will then ask you to press any key. do it for the first time. but dont do it when it reboots after.)
( tip2: when prompted make sure you choice to do a fresh install of windows xp and format the c: drive using the quick ntfs option.)

2. how to use the boot disks

To Install using the Setup startup disks.

1. If your computer can not boot from a CD-Rom drive then you will need to use a Setup disk set to start the computer with. You can obtain a download which will create a 6 floppy Setup disk set that corresponds to your version of Windows XP from here:
Windows XP Home Edition Utility- Setup Disks for Floppy Boot Install
Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1 Utility- Setup Disks for Floppy Boot Install
2. Once the Startup process is finished you can point to the location of your Windows XP CD or files to begin the install.
3. An alternative to the 6 floppy Setup disk set is to use the 1 floppy XP Install Disk from here www.bootdisk.com . Boot with it and then run WINNT.EXE from the \i386 directory of your XP CD or your setup files location.

i hope this helps you out :)

Happy Christmas all.
