So what's the deal with this verstappen rule?

Was it always this way not being able to move under braking? Say back to the 80's?

I always loved F1 but being young I didn't pay any attention to rules or anything like that.

Back in the 70s and 80s you didn't need the rule as common sense was usually sufficient. If you had an accident under braking at the end of a long straight it often meant someone was going to get hurt or killed (see Fiji 1977 for an extreme example).

People moved under braking all the time, they now have DRS to make moves even easier but the current batch of F1 drivers that land in the car when they are 16 have zero race craft. Very soon you will have indicators to signal which way you are going. People moved under braking all through the 80's 90's and 00's and no one cared if you did it once and didn't weave.

Hard racing, as long as no one has to leave the track that's how it should be. If they do have to take avoiding action then stamp on them hard. This ruling just makes it even more amateur, just how easy do they want it?

Indeed, I remember thinking F1 drivers were the best of the best, now they seems to want it easy like you say.

Agreed - if we had the Schumacher/Hakkinen/Zonta move at Spa happen today all three of them would probably get a penalty.

National anthem containing the words 'rocket' and 'bombs', sung whilst Apache gunships fly past. Tells you everything you need to know about America in general and Texas in particular

She did tell Brundle that she didn't want to take an interview but he proceeded to ignore that.

Who gives a toss? Another arrogant moron who happily accepts the trappings of fame but doesn't want to actually talk to the "unwashed masses" whilst doing so.
