Universities - What do you study?

Thanks for clearing that up, I did go down to the open day and they did seem to be selling the 3D stuff, which is a shame as I know for a fact there are many people I've spoken to that have been put off because of this.
Well it probably encourages more people than it puts off. I just got the impression that their course covered a wider range of things than Imperial (they were the only two I really looked at). At open days they'll just show what they think is the most interesting.

Software eng. in Aberystwyth and i hate it.

Love the place hate the course. Avoid computer science at all costs. I hate the people on my course dont associate with them all boring no lifers with nothing other than computers in their rooms / lives. Place is great lots of amazing people and some good activities such as surfing / walking etc.

I missed the big controversy last year - do you know anything about the big cheating crackdown they had last year in chemistry? I heard several people were expelled.

It was technically in my year group, though due to me being ill I wasn't at imperial last year so missed out on the scandal. However I believe a couple of people did get kicked out with regards to cheating on coursework. I have an opinoin on it, but its probably best if I keep it off a public forum. All I'll say is that the expulsions didn't suprise me.

What university to do you go to?
Cambridge

Is it good?
Yes, it's awesome, both in terms of social life and in terms of academic opportunities.

and what do you study?
Mathematics, 4th year.

do you like the subject?
I love it.

Northumbria Uni
French, German and now Spanish this year too
Don't really like it, it feels more like school than uni and is very hard but second year is nearly over :D

Computer science and electrical engineering joint honours you mean :p

Bah, they all wish they were Electronic and Electrical Engineers like me.

Universtiy of Bristol

Studying as said above

Absolutely great. Love it here.

Maybe we should have a mini meet in the MVB for people here.

Royal Holloway, University of London

Absolutely fantastic uni, London on you're doorstep but it's nice and peaceful here if you want it to be. The union is pretty good with a couple of nice bars.

I'm doing a three year Economics degree with one module each year in Politics. Blooming hard, but rewarding and it should set me up well for the future in terms of graduate employment rates etc.

Nope, it covers a lot about the interaction of the 2 that neither of those courses offer. Bad little CS boy, you're just jealous :p

I had my High School Prom there! :p

But anyway, I dropped out of Uni but for the breif while I went I did Joint Honours English Literature with Eductaional Studies :)

Starting at Northumbria in September in a BSC Computer Science. Dont knwo about the course but ive been around the uni a few times and it seems very nice.

I'd think very carefully about university..decide if it will lead into something afterwards. For example, assuming you did some Comp Sci degree would it involve a placement year where you would work for a company and possibly land yourself a job?

Or would you be better getting a CV together, maybe doing some work experience with companies and trying to get in that way, even if it means starting at a lower rate of pay but not getting into all the debt?
