Being as there are some right clever clogs on here I was wondering if anyone has been on University Challenge.

I managed one question this week but it was more general knowledge than Physics

I can usually answer quite a lot of the questions correctly, except the classical music nonsense. I have never been on the show.

Struggled with some questions, have no knowledge of classical music.

Not been on but we can usually get at least a couple of starter questions each and quite a few of the others.

Nope not been on it but do recall after the first correct answer that I also got in the questions following I got all and the team got none.

Haven't watched in a while tbh

Many questions are a superset of general knowledge. You either know it or do not. Through experience OR learning.

I can usually answer a few but the contestants are pretty damn good overall IMO

Subset. A superset would include all general knowledge.

I once watched this and got a few right but up came a chemistry round. Being a chemist I got the lot.

Haven't been on but I remember seeing the flyers around our campus (Newcastle) and thinking about it. Thankfully those who did do it actually got quite far.

I often find Only Connect to be silly, nitpicky, almost arbitrary stuff, usually with several perfectly good connections (same as in their Wall round) where it's more about finding whichever specific connection Victoria has on her cards.
For example, they could all be female composers who died in Germany before the age of 30, or hunters who have taken down one of every game type... but what Vic wants is that their surnames all include types of fruit when spelled backwards in Swahili, or something...!!

The Mrs and I play UniChal at home - You only get the points if you correctly answer before the contestant. Loser has to do the washing up.
I usually get 10 or so correct answers. I'm sometimes shocked by what people do not know...
