University Interview - Teaching

Well, had the interview today. I'll be honest I found it quite tough, the exam was quite a lot harder than I expected and took me a few hours (wasn't given a time limit).

Interview seemed to go ok, apparantly i'll found out either today or tommorrow, fingers crossed!

Have you seen the Armstrong and Miller show on BBC? Just go into one about your life and how it was so bad, and then build to the one liner.... "so thats why I decided to become a teacher" = WIN

I'm in the 2nd year of my BEd in Business Studies and Music and the interview for it was possibly the hardest thing i've ever had to do. I remember having to give a 10 minute presentation on the attributes that I possess that would make me a good teacher then they asked me loads of questions on why I wanted to teach, why I had chosen Business, what teaching/leadership experience I had and how I could use this in the classroom. They also asked me a few questions on diversity in the classroom and gave me several scenarios which I had to say how i'd manage. As I also have a physical disability I had to go through an additional interview just a week before I was due to start my degree where I was told I'd be better to go and find another career! This just made me more determined and so far I'm doing better than anyone else in my year!

After getting this far and even now when i'm just preparing to go on my second teaching practice, I still don't know if I really want to teach. It is a lot of very hard work when out on placement and you find yourself wondering why you are putting yourself through it at 2am while you're planning lessons but I guess at the end of the day it's all worth it and I know it will get easier the longer I do it.

If I get to the end of my degree and no longer wish to teach, or as the case may be, unable to find a job over here, then I will still have a good Business Studies and music degree which I can put to other uses.
